NSCDC Arrests 2, Uncovers Illegal Petroleum Refining Site in Ebonyi State

Ebonyi State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has sealed a site at Ugwuachara in Ebonyi local government area of Ebonyi State, where suspected petroleum products are illegally refined.

The raid was made possible through a tip off by residents of the area when a truck loaded with petroleum products entered the site to offload its contains.

The suspects were in the process of discharging the Petroleum products into 3 Geepee surface tanks, when men of the NSCDC reportedly arrived the site.

Francis Nnadi, Ebonyi State Commandant of the NSCDC while parading the suspects, says the command under his watch is all out against all saboteurs of the nation’s common wealth.

He commended the timely intelligence report that led to the arrest of the suspects in the densely populated residential area.

The driver of the truck, Patrick Peter and Okechukwu Okeh who claimed to be the site engineer denied involvement in the illegal refining site, saying that they were just contracted to do their Normal work in order to earn a living.

Meanwhile, the site has been sealed by the NSCDC, while the truck and Geepee tanks confiscated, pending when the real owners surface for explanation on the illegal activities at the site.
