A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has exploded at an Islamiyyah school in the Kuchibiyu Community of Bwari Area Council, Abuja, killing one student and injuring four others.
The explosion, reported around noon on Monday, caused widespread panic within the school and the surrounding community. The deceased student was reportedly carrying the explosive device when it detonated.
Emergency responders, including a police bomb disposal squad, swiftly arrived at the scene, and the injured students were rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention.
Authorities are currently investigating how the student obtained the suspected explosive device and the circumstances that led to the tragic incident.
The explosion has heightened fears about security in schools and the risks of explosive materials in the hands of minors.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has not issued any statement on the incident.
