The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed a gunfire incident at Barnawa Market, which resulted in the death of at least one person.
According to eyewitnesses, security operatives stormed the market, firing shots into the air, causing panic among shoppers and residents. Unfortunately, one individual was hit by a bullet and died.
The incident has sparked widespread tension, prompting aggrieved youths to block the road in protest over the killing. The blockade has caused significant traffic disruption along the axis.
DSP Mansur Hassan confirmed the incident, and Commissioner of Police Muhammed Rabiu has ordered a full investigation into the cause of the unfortunate event. The Commissioner has also advised the public to avoid the vicinity until calm is restored
