Peter Obi,The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, has admitted that he has no evidence to substantiate his belief that he won the presidential poll.

Obi made the disclosure during an interview with BBC Africa while insisting that he still believes he emerged victorious in the election.

When asked to provide evidence supporting his claim, the former Anambra State governor responded, “There’s no evidence. Everything is not based on evidence.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress the winner of the election, with Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party finishing second and Obi placing third.

Obi and Atiku subsequently challenged the election result at the Presidential Election Petition Court, seeking to overturn Tinubu’s victory. However, the petitions were dismissed by the court.

The Supreme Court later affirmed Tinubu’s victory, bringing the legal challenge to the election outcome to an end.

In the same BBC interview, Obi also spoke about his position on fuel subsidy, maintaining that his stance on the controversial policy remains unchanged despite criticism over his comments on the issue.
