Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of a notorious “One Chance” robbery syndicate operating in parts of Lagos State.

The suspects were apprehended during a routine stop-and-search operation carried out by police operatives along Iyana Ipaja Road.
According to the police, a tricycle conveying three occupants was intercepted during the operation, and a search conducted on the passengers led to the recovery of three Android phones suspected to have been stolen from unsuspecting commuters.
The police said the tricycle rider fled the scene during the search, abandoning the other occupants. One of the occupants, identified as Ademola Ibrahim, was immediately arrested.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to being a member of a “One Chance” robbery gang known for dispossessing passengers of their valuables, especially mobile phones, in the Idimu, Iyana-Ipaja, Egbeda, and Dopemu areas of the state.
Further investigations led to the arrest of the fleeing tricycle rider, identified as Raheem Lawal, 26.
Police operatives also recovered the operational tricycle allegedly used by the syndicate, bearing registration number SMK 309 QP.
The Command disclosed that two victims who had earlier reported “One Chance” robbery incidents along the axis positively identified the suspects and their stolen phones recovered from them.
The police added that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal syndicate.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling robbery and other violent crimes across the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with credible and timely information through the Command’s emergency lines.
