At least five persons have been confirmed dead while 10 others were rescued alive after a three-storey building under construction collapsed in the Durumi 3 area near Gudu Market in Abuja on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at a construction site around Gaduwa Estate in the Gudu district of the Federal Capital Territory.
Rescue operations were still ongoing as emergency responders continued efforts to evacuate more victims believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.
Officials of the Federal Fire Service, health workers, security agencies, and local volunteers were seen carrying out intensive search-and-rescue operations at the scene, while anxious residents gathered around the area.
The Mandate Secretary of the Health Services and Environment Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, who visited the scene, disclosed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had directed that all injured victims receive free medical treatment.
Fasawe said the FCT Administration had mobilised emergency response teams to ensure prompt medical attention for survivors and support ongoing rescue efforts.
She added that the authorities were working to determine the cause of the collapse, while efforts remained focused on rescuing any remaining trapped victims.
The incident caused panic among residents and traders in the area, with many expressing concern over the increasing cases of building collapse in parts of the country.
