The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a series of major operational breakthroughs following intelligence-led and community-responsive policing operations across Mowe, Ago-Iwoye and Warewa divisions, leading to the arrest of three suspects linked to cultism, armed robbery and receiving stolen property.

The operations also led to the disruption of a planned cult initiation exercise, the prevention of mob action against a robbery suspect, and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle, generator parts and other exhibits.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the achievements underscore the Command’s commitment to proactive crime prevention and intelligence-driven policing across Ogun State.
Operatives of the Mowe Division arrested a 26-year-old suspected leader of the Eiye Confraternity following credible intelligence on plans by the cult group to organise an initiation exercise aimed at recruiting new members and expanding its activities within the area. Through sustained surveillance and strategic deployment, officers successfully disrupted the planned initiation and apprehended the suspect. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to his leadership role in the cult group and involvement in cult-related activities.
In a separate operation, officers attached to the Ago-Iwoye Division foiled an armed robbery incident involving a commercial motorcyclist along the Ita-Merin axis of the town. The victim was allegedly attacked by two passengers who used a hammer to inflict injuries before stealing his motorcycle. Following a distress alert, residents apprehended one of the suspects, while police officers swiftly intervened to prevent mob action against him and restore order. The stolen motorcycle and the hammer used in the attack were recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects operated as part of a criminal syndicate targeting commercial motorcyclists along isolated routes.
Similarly, detectives from the Warewa Division uncovered a suspected stolen-property network and arrested a suspect accused of illegally diverting and disposing of a 10KVA generator valued at ₦650,000. The generator, which had been rented out for legitimate business purposes, was allegedly sold for ₦15,000. Acting on intelligence, police traced the suspect to Kara-Isheri, where he was reportedly dismantling the generator into parts. Some of the generator components were recovered, while investigations continue to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the crime.
Commending the professionalism and vigilance of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing and sustained pressure on criminal elements across the state.
He assured residents that Ogun State remains unsafe for criminals and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information to aid crime-fighting efforts.
