The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate in connection with the abduction of one Abubakar Abdullahim at Molege, via Owo, Ondo State, on August 1, 2026.

The arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Akure.
Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives moved to Oyo State, where, in collaboration with the Oyo State Police Command, they arrested one of the suspects, identified as Adamu Rabiu, in Ibadan.
In a related operation, another suspect, Haruna Likita, was arrested around Ipele, via Owo, Ondo State, in connection with the same kidnapping incident.
Preliminary investigations have established links between the two suspects and the abduction of Abdullahim. The police said both suspects made statements during interrogation admitting their alleged involvement in the crime.
Their statements, alongside other emerging intelligence, are being further analysed to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify other individuals who may be connected to the crime.
The Command said it was intensifying efforts to uncover the wider network and operational structure of the suspected syndicate, with a view to arresting all those involved.
The suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts are ongoing to pursue credible leads and deploy intelligence-driven strategies to dismantle kidnapping networks operating in and around Ondo State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, CP Felix Ohagwu, commended operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for their diligence, courage and commitment to protecting lives and property.
Ohagwu reassured residents of the Command’s determination to sustain operations against kidnappers and other violent criminals in the state.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to the police and other relevant security agencies.
The Command encouraged residents to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest police formation.
