Senator George Akume, secretary to the Government of the Federation has condemned the recent killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Ardo Risku, and his son after a peace meeting.

In a statement by Yomi Odunuga, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the SGF described the incident as a major setback to ongoing peace and reconciliation efforts in Benue State.
Senator Akume expressed concern that the killings occurred at a time when communities in the state were beginning to witness improved security and peaceful coexistence through dialogue and cooperation.
He urged residents to remain calm and avoid reprisals, stressing that no individual or group should take the law into their hands.
The SGF noted that lasting peace remains critical to economic growth, agricultural development and improved living conditions in the state.
He also extended condolences to the family of the late Ardo Risku, members of MACBAN and others affected by the incident.
Senator Akume called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.
