Leaders of the Yoruba and Hausa communities in Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State, have pledged to work together to sustain peace after the clash on Wednesday between Yoruba and Hausa youths.

They also promised to support efforts by the Oyo State Government to address the tension in the area.
After a peace meeting, convened by the Deputy Governor, the Chairman of the Yoruba Community in Straberg, and Chairman of the Hausa Community in Ojoo, Alhaji Abubakar Musa described both communities as one family that has coexisted peacefully for years.
Musa blamed the recent disturbance on individuals he described as, non-indigenous residents who came from other locations.
He said the Deputy Governor, the Chairman of Akinyele Local Government and security agencies directed that all persons and structures linked to the crisis be removed within seven days.
The Deputy Governor also instructed anyone claiming ownership of the disputed land to present documentary evidence.
Community leaders further signed a memorandum that issues involving Hausa or Yoruba residents must be channeled through their leaders and reported to government.
