Nigeria wins global recognition in the fight against financial crimes as it secures the prestigious United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime – World Bank and Egmont Group stolen asset recovery award.

The recognition comes “In the wake of the 32nd plenary of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Hafsat Bakari, chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) says the recognition highlights the role being played by NFIU and EFCC at a time when Nigeria is intensifying reforms aimed at safeguarding the integrity of its financial system and strengthening compliance with international standards.
The award, which is being seen as one of the highest honours in the international financial intelligence community , is a result of the administration’s international cooperation in effective intelligence sharing, operational excellence, and successful assets recovery.
