The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command, commencing search and rescue operations, recovered the lifeless body of a trapped victim at the multiple accident scene on Kara Bridge along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday.
Elizabeth Oluwadamilola Jayeola, Sector Public Education OfficerFRSC Lagos Sector Command, in a statement, indicated that the recovered corpse has been evacuated to Idera Hospital Mortuary. The Sector Public Education Officer also said that the two injured victims were also rescued and taken to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre for medical treatment.
The FRSC, accordingly, alerted the motoring public on the ongoing rescue and recovery operations following the multiple crashes that occurred on Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Friday.
The FRSC maintained that recovery management is progressing steadily, with four of the crashed vehicles already removed from the scene.
“Recovery efforts are currently focused on evacuating the trapped Toyota Sienna and the remaining articulated truck.
“The operation requires the offloading of the cargo before heavy-duty recovery equipment can safely remove both vehicles from the crash scene.
“Personnel of the FRSC, in collaboration with other emergency response agencies, remain on ground managing the crash scene, facilitating recovery operations, and ensuring traffic is effectively controlled to prevent secondary crashes and guarantee the safe movement of motorists,” FRSC highlighted.
The Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander KEHINDE Hamzat, expressed appreciation of the patience and cooperation of road users; he urged motorists approaching the Kara Bridge corridor both inward and outward to continue to apply caution, obey traffic officials, and consider alternative routes where necessary until the recovery exercise is fully concluded.
