The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three suspected key members of an armed robbery and car-snatching syndicate allegedly operating across Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The suspects, identified as Ahmed Saidu, aka Diamond; Alex Gabriel, aka Junior; and Ahmed Mahudu, aka Diamond, were arrested by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) during coordinated operations conducted between August 14 and 19, 2026.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the arrests followed actionable intelligence linking the suspects to a series of armed robbery incidents involving the theft of vehicles at gunpoint.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities and implicated one Yakubu Yewa, aka Y/Come, who was identified as the alleged kingpin of the syndicate.

Police investigations revealed that Yewa is currently being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is standing trial over an armed robbery case.

Further investigations also indicated that the alleged kingpin coordinated and directed the syndicate’s armed robbery operations and facilitated the disposal of stolen vehicles both within Nigeria and outside the country.

The STS operatives recovered one red Toyota Corolla and one army-colour Volkswagen Golf 3 during the operations.

The Nigeria Police Force said investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to dismantle the criminal network and apprehend other persons who may be involved.

The Force reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, disrupting criminal networks and ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
