By our Reporter

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) will hold its 31st Matriculation Ceremony on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

The ceremony will be virtually coordinated from the university’s headquarters in Abuja, with Study Centres across the country linking up with the event.

In a circular to all Study Centres, the University Registrar, Oladipo Ajayi, directed the centres to organise orientation programmes for newly admitted students ahead of the matriculation.

According to Ajayi, the orientation is designed to familiarise fresh students with the mode of operation of the university as an Open and Distance Learning institution.

He said the orientation would also serve as a prelude to the matriculation ceremony and help students understand the academic and administrative processes of the university.

Meanwhile, the university has announced the availability of academic gowns for matriculating students, subject to clearance.

Ajayi added that the gowns must be returned properly cleaned on or before Friday, October 9, 2026.
