A woman has been remanded in custody after she was accused of pouring boiling water on her neighbour during a dispute over the use of a shared compound in Lugbe, Abuja.

The FCT Police Command said the incident left the victim with severe burn injuries and occurred on September 4, 2026.

According to the police, trouble started after the victim moved a pot containing boiling water to an area of the compound allegedly designated for the suspect.

The suspect was said to have picked up the pot and poured its contents on the victim’s back during the ensuing disagreement.

The victim was subsequently taken to a hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment for the injuries sustained.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 9.

Adeh said the suspect was arrested by the police and later arraigned before a court.

The court subsequently ordered that she be remanded in custody until September 16, 2026, when the case is scheduled to continue.

The police did not disclose further details of the charge or the condition of the victim beyond confirming that she remained under medical care.
