Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has sworn in two new commissioners, Olayemi Sanusi and Adenike Ademokun, urging them to prioritise the interests of the state above personal considerations, political differences and sectional loyalties.

Abiodun gave the charge on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where he urged the commissioners to demonstrate integrity, humility, fairness and commitment to public service.
The governor advised the new appointees to remain accessible to residents, listen to their concerns and exercise prudence in managing public resources, stressing that their appointments must translate into tangible benefits for the people.
He also emphasised the need for continuity in governance, urging them to preserve institutional knowledge, maintain proper records and ensure the completion of ongoing projects and programmes.
Abiodun charged the commissioners to familiarise themselves with the priorities of his administration, assess existing projects and bring fresh ideas, sound judgment and a strong sense of responsibility to their assignments.
“Public confidence grows when citizens can see that those they entrusted with leadership understand their needs and act to address them,” he said.
The governor further urged them to embrace teamwork, respect the professionalism of the public service and collaborate effectively with ministries, departments and agencies under their supervision.
He noted that the success of public office should be measured by the problems it solves and the opportunities it creates, adding that members of the State Executive Council must consolidate existing achievements, address outstanding priorities and work towards a stronger and more prosperous Ogun State.
Describing the remaining period of his administration as its final lap, Abiodun said the months ahead required urgency, discipline, political maturity and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
“We are now in the final lap of this administration. This period demands urgency, discipline, political maturity and a steadfast pursuit of excellence,” he said.
He added that the new commissioners were joining the government at a significant time, with substantial achievements to consolidate and important responsibilities still to fulfil.
“History will assess our stewardship through the consequences of our decisions and the difference our service has made in the lives of the people,” the governor said, urging the appointees to approach their duties with a clear sense of purpose.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in commissioners, Ademokun thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in them and assured him that they would not take their appointments for granted.
She pledged their commitment to supporting the administration’s development agenda and improving the welfare of residents across the state.
