Operatives of the 6 Division Nigerian Army have arrested thirty-five suspected gun running syndicates in what it described as an intelligence led operation in Rivers and Bayelsa state.

In a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, acting deputy director of the Nigerian Army 6 Division public relations made available, said the suspects are notorious for trafficking Small Arms and weapons to criminals across the Niger Delta region.

According to the Army, the operation led to the interception of two English pistols, four locally fabricated pistols, and a double-barrelled gun.
Three of their leaders identified as Dedei innocent, Alabor Godknows and Godwin Osik, are helping the Nigerian Army in their investigation which also led to the uncovering of their illegal refining sites across Rivers, Bayelsa and Delta state.
The recovered items and suspects are set to be in custody of the Nigerian Army 6 Division who intend to transfer them to the police after completing its investigation for onward prosecution.
