An Ikorodu High Court has ordered three independent DNA tests to determine the paternity of Liam, the son of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

The fresh order was issued following complications that stalled earlier attempts to conduct the DNA test, prolonging a dispute between Mohbad’s family and his widow.
Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, appeared in court alongside his lawyer, Barrister Oladayo Ogungbe, who explained that the court-approved DNA process initially faced setbacks due to concerns over the suitability of the testing facility.
According to Ogungbe, the court agreed that to ensure transparency and credibility, three foreign-based laboratories would be used. Each party will nominate one facility, while the court will select the third. All tests will be tissue-based, and the results must align.
“The three results must show the same outcome. This is what we have insisted on from the beginning. It shows we have nothing to hide,” Ogungbe said.
He added that Mohbad’s father would not bear the cost of the tests and that all parties would be present during sample collection to prevent any manipulation.
Mohbad’s father expressed satisfaction with the ruling, saying he had no objections to the arrangement.
While Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, has consistently maintained that Liam is the singer’s biological son, his father has insisted that a DNA test is necessary to resolve all doubts.
The court’s latest order is expected to finally bring clarity to the long-running dispute.
