Troops operating under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued three kidnapping victims after engaging terrorists who attacked a commercial vehicle along the Anka–Gummi road in Zamfara State.
The victims were rescued after soldiers on routine patrol in Anka Local Government Area received information about the attack and immediately moved to the scene.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X, the troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee into the surrounding area and abandon their captives.
The soldiers subsequently evacuated the three victims and recovered a handheld communication radio reportedly left behind by the fleeing attackers.
Makama said the rescued victims were undergoing medical assessment and care before being reunited with their families.
The troops have also intensified search operations in the area to locate the affected vehicle and track the fleeing terrorists.
Security personnel have equally increased patrols along the Anka–Gummi corridor as part of efforts to protect motorists and prevent further attacks along the major transport route.
