The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has ended its interim leadership arrangement and restored Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru as the party’s State Chairman.

The decision followed a resolution by the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) at its meeting on October 1, 2026.
The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Isah Abubakar Assalafi, announced the development on Thursday during a press conference at the APC secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Assalafi, the SWC resolved to revoke Kana-Zuru’s suspension, which had been imposed in June, and directed that he immediately resume his responsibilities as State Chairman.
Kana-Zuru was suspended at an SWC meeting on June 20, 2026, through Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026.
Following his suspension, Adamu Mudi Augie had assumed the role of Acting State Chairman.
With the latest resolution, however, the interim arrangement has been terminated, with Augie directed to return to his substantive position as Deputy State Chairman.
“Accordingly, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie shall cease to act as Acting State Chairman and shall resume his substantive office as Deputy State Chairman,” Assalafi said.
The party also directed that all official records and documents relating to the office of State Chairman be handed over to Kana-Zuru.
Assalafi said the state secretary had been instructed to communicate the resolution to relevant party organs, including the APC national headquarters, for necessary action.
Kana-Zuru has consequently resumed the functions, powers and responsibilities of the Kebbi APC State Chairman with immediate effect.
