FCT Police Debunk Alleged Kidnapping Incident at Abuja Primary School

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed reports of an alleged kidnapping incident at Phase 1 Primary School, Gbagalape, Abuja, describing the claim as false and unsubstantiated.

The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on behalf of the FCT Police Command.

According to the Command, officers attached to the Nyanya Division received a distress call at about 10:30 a.m. on June 4, 2026, alleging that a kidnapping was in progress at the school.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Nyanya Division immediately deployed officers and surveillance teams to the scene to assess the situation and ensure the safety of pupils and staff.

Preliminary investigations revealed that panic broke out after some students began shouting “kidnappers” and ran out of the school premises, causing alarm among teachers and members of the surrounding community.

In response, police operatives cordoned off the school and conducted a comprehensive search of the premises and surrounding areas.

The Command stated that extensive searches and interviews with individuals within and around the school failed to establish any kidnapping incident. No suspect was sighted and no victim was identified during the operation.

Police teams also searched nearby hills, boundaries, and adjoining areas while visiting neighbouring schools as part of precautionary security measures.

The FCT Police Command urged residents to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing unnecessary fear, panic, and tension within communities.

Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, encouraged residents to promptly report suspicious activities and emergencies to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and maintaining security across the Federal Capital Territory.
