Nigeria’s 36 state governors have reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with the Federal Government, the World Bank and other development partners to ensure the successful implementation of the NG-CARES Additional Financing, SOLID and HOPE programmes aimed at strengthening governance, protecting vulnerable households and building human capital.

The assurance was given on Thursday by the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, during the presidential launch of the programmes. He was represented at the event by the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

Speaking on behalf of the governors, AbdulRazaq described the initiatives as a significant step toward translating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda into tangible benefits for Nigerians.

“This occasion marks another key step towards turning the Renewed Hope Agenda into tangible benefits for Nigerians,” he said.

According to him, the programmes are founded on the belief that economic reforms should create better opportunities for citizens, strengthen institutions, improve public service delivery and promote shared prosperity.

He noted that the NG-CARES Additional Financing, SOLID and HOPE programmes provide practical support for that vision through strategic investments designed to strengthen governance, protect vulnerable households, develop human capital and improve the resilience of states.

The NGF chairman commended the World Bank for its sustained partnership with Nigeria, saying the collaboration has gone beyond supporting the Federal Government to strengthening public financial management at the sub-national level, expanding social protection programmes, improving agricultural productivity and building institutional systems that promote accountability and measurable results.

“We are especially encouraged that the World Bank continues to partner with Nigeria in a way that recognises how our federation actually works,” AbdulRazaq said.

He described the NG-CARES initiative as a clear demonstration of what could be achieved through effective collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments and development partners with a shared commitment to transparency and accountability.

According to him, the programmes are not merely intervention projects but strategic investments aimed at building sustainable institutions capable of driving effective governance, improving service delivery and supporting long-term national development.

“We are strengthening the institutional foundations required to sustain inclusive growth, improve service delivery and enhance the resilience of our states. These are objectives that align closely with the aspirations of the Renewed Hope Agenda and Nigeria’s long-term development ambitions,” he added.

AbdulRazaq reaffirmed the commitment of all 36 state governors to strengthening governance, promoting accountability and delivering measurable development outcomes for Nigerians.

He also pledged that the governors would continue to work closely with the Federal Government, the World Bank and other development partners to ensure the programmes achieve their intended impact.

The NGF chairman further expressed appreciation to the World Bank for its continued confidence in Nigeria and commended President Tinubu for sustaining reforms centred on collaboration, institutional strengthening and citizens’ welfare.

The NG-CARES Additional Financing, SOLID and HOPE programmes are expected to enhance governance, improve public service delivery, strengthen social protection systems and build resilience across Nigeria’s states in support of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
