The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two security guards in connection with the alleged murder of a traveler in Ibafo area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Isikilu Dauda, 55, and Rasaki Abbas, were apprehended by detectives from the Ibafo Divisional Headquarters following an incident that occurred on April 10, 2026.

According to the police, operatives acted on a credible tip-off and promptly moved to the scene, where the victim, identified simply as Promise, was rescued and rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

While being conveyed to the hospital, the victim reportedly identified himself and alleged that he had been attacked and macheted by security guards after arriving in the area the previous night. He was, however, confirmed dead on arrival by a doctor.

The police said the body was subsequently documented and deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for a post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations revealed a trail of blood linking the crime scene to one of the suspects, leading to his arrest, while further efforts resulted in the apprehension of the second suspect. Authorities said a manhunt has been launched to apprehend other fleeing accomplices.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and assured that all those involved would be brought to justice.

He warned against unlawful violence and reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for extrajudicial actions.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free number and other designated contacts.
