The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) has secured a Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) tanker following an alleged armed robbery and attempted hijacking along Atlantic/Ambode Way, Ijako, Epe, at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

The tanker was reportedly travelling from Dangote Refinery to Ibadan when, according to the driver, it was intercepted by two white Sino trucks and an MPV. He alleged that he was dragged into a nearby bush, tied up and dispossessed of his mobile phone while the suspects attempted to take control of the tanker.
The driver reportedly foiled the attempt by removing and hiding the tanker keys. He said the suspects searched for the keys and other valuables before leaving.
Acting on a distress call, LNSC personnel responded and encountered two persons who identified themselves as the tanker’s motor boys. The driver, initially unaccounted for, was subsequently located.
The tanker was secured and escorted towards the Lagos State Toll Gate at Mojoda. The situation was brought under control, while efforts continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. The alleged assailants remain unidentified.
Ifalade Oyekan, General Manager, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, commended the officers for their swift response and reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to supporting the Greater Lagos initiative.
“I commend the officers for their quick response, which is one of the reasons Mr Governor continues to prioritise the empowerment of the Corps for peak performance at all times. We remain committed to supporting the Greater Lagos initiative of Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.”
Although the situation was brought under control, efforts are on to identify and arrest the suspects as at the time of filing this report.
