Police Recover Three Guns, Arrest Suspects in Delta

The Police have arrested 5 suspects and recovered 3 pump action guns in separate operations in Delta State.

Edafe Bright, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in a statement, disclosed that the resolve of the Command to clamp down on criminals across the state.

The police said operatives of C Division Asaba intercepted one Joseph Tyavzua, along the Asaba-Onitsha Expressway during a Stop-and-Search operation and found a pump action gun in his possession, while attempting to enter Onitsha, Anambra State, on a commercial motorcycle.

The suspect claimed to be a vigilante member but failed to provide lawful authority for possessing firearms. The Police said 4 other suspects were arrested with 2 pump action guns by operatives of the Ekpan Police Division, following a report received concerning the armed robbery of a motorcycle rider.

All suspects are currently in the custody of the police division at Ekpan and Asaba. While efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate, the PPRO said

CP Yemi Oyeniyi, Delta police commissioner, commended the officers for the successful operations and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing in the state.
