Sanwo-Olu Nominates Tayo-Makanjuola as Acting Lagos State Auditor-General

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor has approved the nomination of Dr. Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola for appointment as the Acting State Auditor-General, Office of the State Auditor-General, subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The nomination was conveyed through Circular No. CIR/HOS/’26/052, dated July 28, 2026, and issued by the Office of the Head of Service. The appointment takes effect from July 28, 2026.

Before her nomination, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts, where she earned recognition for her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to effective public financial management.

Born on September 20, 1974, in Ikate-Elegushi, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola possesses an extensive academic background. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in International Business from Lagos State University, Ojo; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology; a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi; Higher National Diploma and National Diploma in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro; and an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos.

She is also a Fellow and member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD), and the Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (CFIP-USA), among others.

In recognition of her contributions to society, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola received the Distinguished Woman of Peace and Honour Award from the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC).

The Management and Staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulated Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola on her nomination, expressing confidence in her ability to provide visionary leadership that will strengthen accountability, transparency, and excellence in public sector auditing across Lagos State.

The Office also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the appointment, describing it as a demonstration of confidence in Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola’s competence and leadership capacity to advance good governance and prudent management of public resources in the state.
