Troops of 1 Brigade Nigerian Army Headquarters, Gusau have recorded a significant success in the ongoing onslaught against terrorists in Zamfara, with coordinated operations in Talata Mafara and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas of the State leading to the elimination of several high-profile terrorist leaders.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by Sulaiman Omale, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations stated that, “the troops from Combat Team-6 encountered a group of heavily armed terrorists in Mai Kwanugga village, Talata Mafara Local Government Area, terrorizing locals and setting homes ablaze.
“The operation resulted in the successful neutralization of several terrorists, including five notorious bandit leaders identified as Auta Jijji, Dankali, Sagidi, Kachallah Rijaji, and Kachallah Suza.
“Similarly, the troops recovered a cache of arms, including four AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, two RPG tubes, six RPG bombs, 28 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, and 43 rounds of PKT ammunition.
“The statement, however, confirms that two civilians were caught in the crossfire during the engagement, even as the clearance operations are ongoing to eliminate remaining threats in the area and prevent future incursions.”
