Two motorcycles were recovered after troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA foiled an attempt by suspected terrorists to block the Wasagu–Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Bakatsine, a North-West crisis reporter, disclosed the development in a post shared on his X handle on Saturday.

According to him, the troops responded to credible intelligence on Friday afternoon indicating that suspected terrorists had mounted a roadblock along the highway.

The troops reportedly engaged the armed men in a gun battle, forcing them to flee the area and abandon the two motorcycles.

Security sources said the troops pursued the fleeing terrorists along their escape route in a bid to neutralise them or prevent them from regrouping, but no further contact was established during the pursuit.

The operation is part of ongoing military efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny terrorists freedom of movement and strengthen security across vulnerable communities in Kebbi State and the wider North-West.

Military authorities have continued to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and sustaining pressure on criminal elements operating across the region.
