ECOWAS Begins Recruitment for Over 30 Positions in Nigeria

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified citizens from member states, including Nigeria, to apply for over 30 positions across its institutions.

In a notice published on Thursday, April 9, 2026, the regional body said the exercise is aimed at strengthening the implementation of its programmes across key sectors.

Available roles in Nigeria, mainly based in Abuja, include Office Aide, Programme Assistant, Nurse, Protocol Assistant, Documentation and Archives Assistant, Office Manager (Bilingual Secretary), Junior Accountant (Disbursements), Legal Officers, Political Adviser, Registrar positions, and other senior roles.

The organisation also listed openings outside Nigeria, including Administrative and Finance Officer in Addis Ababa, Principal Programme Officer (Sports Policy) in Liberia, and other roles in Conakry and Dakar.

ECOWAS stated that applicants must meet age requirements depending on the category of the role.

“35 years of age for General Services positions, 45 years for Professional roles, and 50 years for Director-level positions,” it said.

The body encouraged female candidates to apply, noting that only shortlisted applicants would be contacted.

Applicants are required to complete an official application form, attach a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter, and submit them before the deadline of April 30, 2026.

“All applications must include the application form, CV and a cover letter. Applications that do not contain all mandatory documents will not be considered,” the notice stated.

ECOWAS also warned that it does not charge any fees for recruitment, advising applicants to beware of fraudulent requests for payment or personal financial information.
