Kunle Afolayan, actor and filmmaker, has opened up about his approach to filmmaking and profitability, stressing that he is not in competition with anyone in the industry.

Speaking at the launch of his new movie, Afolayan made it clear that impressive box office numbers mean little to him if they do not translate into meaningful personal returns.
Addressing his colleagues, he said, “I don’t want to make any movie for the cinema where it would gross 2 billion or 1 billion naira and in the end, I won’t get 10 million as my personal income, so there is no competition anywhere.”
He explained that his focus is not on chasing headlines or record-breaking figures but on building a sustainable business model that guarantees fair financial rewards.
