Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen has condemned the attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State, where about 25 students have been reportedly kidnapped by bandits.
Speaker Abbas described the attack, during which some officials were also reportedly killed, as unfortunate, gruesome and despicable.
The Speaker, while lamenting the fate of the students in the hands of the abductors, called for a speedy response by security forces and the timely rescue of the schoolgirls.
While noting that schools should be among the safest places in the country, Speaker Abbas said the attack has severe implications and the trend must be checked by security forces.
