As part of efforts to appreciate excellence, the Sparklight News has celebrated fifteen Nigerians doing well in their chosen paths.
The Sparklight news Media lecture and merit awards which was held on June 12 in Lagos at the Imperial Hall, Alausa had as theme: The Role of media in the electioneering campaign in a changing media landscape.
The Guest Lecturer, Dr. Demola Oladesu, the Deputy Political Editor, the Nation Newspaper advised journalists to desist from taking sides during electioneering campaign but report issues objectively adding that elections will come and go.
He commended the organisers of the Sparklight Awards for choosing this timely topic at a moment when Nigerians are actively preparing to elect new leaders come 2023.
Award winners include, Honorable Remmy Hazzan, Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor of Public Communications who bagged the award of personality of the year; Professor Omololu Soyombo, Academic Merit Award; Dr Oluwatosin Olowojebutu, Chairman, Unilag Alumni, Laogs branch; Fixit45, Company of the year; Sunday Oguntola, Online Editor, the Nation Newspaper-Journalist of the year (Print); Awe Olaolu, Journalist of the year-Broadcast; Dr Wasiu Tejuosho, Principal Lecturer, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Academic Brand of the year, Emmanuel Faleti, CEO Minuel Designs, Entrepreneur of the year; Sir Prince Niyi Olatidoye, Lifetime Achievements Award;Dr Tope Fasua, Leadership Excellence Award, Honeybols Foundation, Impact Excellence Award,Human Development Initiatives (HDI) won the NGO of the year award, and a host of Others.
Speaking at the event,the Editor-in-chief of Sparklight news, Tosin Adesile while congratulating the awardees on their well deserved wins, explained that the this edition of the Sparklight News Award is designed to appreciate excellence and encourage more Nigerians to do well.
“Constant discussion on germane issues regarding the nation could bring a better change. Nigeria will be better as we continue to engage through media and public fora of this nature”.
