Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued on April 30, 2026, Adediran said his decision followed consultations and recent developments within the party, including the endorsement of Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat by party leaders.
Adediran disclosed that although he had earlier purchased his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms with the intention to contest, he had chosen to step down in the interest of party unity and cohesion.
“Leadership also demands the capacity to make difficult but necessary decisions that prioritize collective interest above personal ambition,” he stated.
He emphasized that his withdrawal was not due to a lack of capacity but was driven by discipline, strength, and respect for the party’s internal dynamics.
The former governorship aspirant reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his leadership as central to the stability and progress of both the party and the country.
Adediran also declared his alignment with the position of the President and party leadership regarding the Lagos governorship process, stressing the importance of party supremacy.
He expressed appreciation to members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement for their support, noting that the group’s mission of equity, inclusion, and better governance remains intact.
Adediran urged his supporters and stakeholders to remain calm and united, describing his decision as part of a broader journey in public service.
“Politics is a continuum. Today’s decision is part of a larger journey of service,” he said, adding that he remains committed to contributing to the growth of the APC and the development of Lagos State.
