Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has declared that each Corps member leaving the state’s camp will receive a token of N100,000, while the NYSC support staff will receive a sum of N100 million.
He made this known during his address as the special guest of honour at the NYSC Passing-Out Parade/Closing Ceremony for the 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Iyana Ipaja on Tuesday.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced a N5bn pledge towards the construction of a permanent site for the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp in the state.
He said, “This year alone, I will be putting available a total of N5 billion that will be used to start the full development of the permanent site for NYSC.
“For this batch, we have 4254, and with all sense of responsibility and because you have been very hardworking, each and every one of you will go home with N100,000; the money will be made available into your accounts by next week, and your directors will credit your account.”
Also confirming the development, Gboyega Akosile, the special adviser, media and publicity to the governor, said automatic employment has been approved for the best 100 corps members into the state civil service.
Posting on his X handle, he wrote, “Wild jubilation among Corps members and NYSC staff as Governor @jidesanwoolu made some announced the sum of N100,000 each for the Youth Corps members passing out today (to be delivered next week directly into their accounts)
“Also, automatic Employment into the Lagos Public Service for the best 100 Corpers after service year (for this batch)
“And a 32-Seater Hyundai Bus (delivered already today).”
