OAU students protest colleagues death over medical negligence

A female student of Obafemi Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun state, has been reported died after being denied treatment at the University’s Health centre.

Sparklight News learnt that the student identified as Adesina Aishat Omowunmi, until her death was a 400 level student of Foreign Language of the institution.

According to a student who spoke to correspondent said that the deceased who was seriously sick was rushed to the health center on Thursday evening but didn’t get necessary treatment.

Findings revealed that the medical personnel on duty insisted on presentation of her health centre card when she arrived the facility or school identity card but she wasn’t in the possession of that and was rejected to be treated.

Unfortunately, Aisha passed on as she didn’t get treatment on time. Her death angered the students of the institution and led to a protest by students of the institution who are demanding better medical care to avoid a reoccurrence.
