The entire Ijoka area of Akure,Ondo State was thrown into mourning with the killing of a woman,Yemisi Ajayi by suspected hoodlums on Tuesday.
A family friend who broke the news to our correspondent said this is happening three years after her only child, Oluwaseun Ajila, was raped and murdered at their residence in 2018.
The 20-year-old, who was a fashion model, was stabbed to death by unknown assailants.
The mother who raised an alarm upon returning from woek and seeing the corpse of her only daughter and the boyfriend,Ebenezer Adedimola, was later arrested in connection with the incident and charged to court.
The suspect was, however, released after legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions said he had no case to answer.
It was however reported that the deputy Governor’s wife assisted the woman by adopting a child to reduce the pain and loss of her only daughter.
It was now three years later,l that the same death that took the daughter returned in the same scenario to kill the mother,Mrs Ajayi. She stabbed in the stomach by unknown assailants.
The family friend told our correspondent that the young girl living with her who might have been thr adopted child discovered her lifeless body when she went to call her for morning devotion.
The source further said, “She was stabbed in the stomach; she was alone in her room, while the girl slept in another room. In the early hours of the day, the girl went to call her for morning devotion and saw her lifeless body and called neighbours for help.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami in a report said an investigation was ongoing into the matter.
She said, “The corpse has already been deposited in a mortuary and the police are investigating to unravel the motive behind her killing. We don’t want to reveal what we are doing in order not to jeopardise the investigation.”
