Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has congratulated Isaac Kekemeke on his re-election as the South-West National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aiyedatiwa, who spoke after the party’s zonal congress held in Lagos, described Kekemeke’s unanimous return as a reflection of his impactful leadership and contribution to strengthening the party in the region over the past four years.

The congress, held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, brought together 1,398 delegates from the six South-West states. The exercise was widely commended for its peaceful, orderly, and transparent conduct.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the congress as a demonstration of the APC’s internal democracy and discipline, noting that the South-West zone continues to set a benchmark for political organisation in the country.

He praised delegates for their patience and commitment, adding that the event provided an opportunity to strengthen unity and collaboration within the region.

Sanwo-Olu also acknowledged the presence of officials from the party’s national leadership, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and members of the media for ensuring transparency.

Speaking on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the governor congratulated Kekemeke and expressed confidence in the newly elected zonal executives.

In his remarks, APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, represented by the National Youth Leader, Dr Dayo Israel, commended party members for their dedication and attributed the success of the congress to collective effort.

Kekemeke, in his acceptance speech, pledged to build on past achievements and outlined plans to strengthen the party’s electoral fortunes in the region, including securing the re-election of Biodun Oyebanji and supporting the party’s bid in Osun State.

Chairman of the South-West Congress Committee, Jide Jimoh, confirmed that the exercise complied with legal and regulatory standards, noting that representatives of INEC, led by Mr Badejo Babalola, monitored the process.

Other executives elected at the congress include Alfred Aluko (Zonal Secretary), Ismail Majekodunmi (Legal Adviser), Dr Lateef Ibirogba (Publicity Secretary), Ayobami Afolabi (Organising Secretary), Barrister Daramola Adesuyi (Youth Leader), and Dayo Insha (Leader for Persons with Disabilities).

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Governors Dapo Abiodun and Biodun Oyebanji, deputy governors, ministers, lawmakers, former governors, and other party leaders from across the South-West region.
