The Nigeria Police Force has announced the assumption of duty of CP Bode Ojajuni as the 38th Commissioner of Police in charge of the Ogun State Police Command.

His deployment was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.

CP Ojajuni, a native of Ondo State, was born on April 3, 1970, and joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Course 19). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History Education, a Law degree (LL.B), and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies. He is currently pursuing a PhD.

With about three decades of service, the new police chief brings extensive experience spanning operations, investigations, administration, and international policing. He is known for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to community policing.

Prior to his new role, Ojajuni served as Commissioner of Police at INTERPOL (Nigeria National Central Bureau), Lagos, where he coordinated efforts against transnational crime and dismantled criminal syndicates. He also previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ogun State.

His career profile includes serving as Principal Staff Officer III to the Inspector-General of Police between 2017 and 2019, Area Commander of Area “A” Command, Lion Building, Lagos—where he was named Area Commander of the Year in 2021—and Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State Command. He also served twice as Divisional Police Officer at Bode Thomas Division, Surulere.

Ojajuni has held several command positions in the Mobile Police Force, including postings in Ikeja, Epe, Asaba, and Abeokuta, as well as operational roles in Adamawa State, including Mubi. Other assignments include Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Section at SCID Panti, Yaba; Chairman of a Petroleum Task Force; and Commander of Border Patrol in Saki, Oyo State.

On the international front, he is a member of the INTERPOL African Committee, elected during the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in Cape Town in 2025. He has represented Nigeria at global security events, including the ECOWAS Security Summit in Lomé and the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech.

He has also participated in professional trainings and conferences across the United States, Singapore, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates, enhancing his expertise in global policing and intelligence coordination. Notably, he facilitated the repatriation of high-profile fugitives to China and other countries.

In March 2026, IGP Disu appointed him Secretary to the Steering Committee on the Establishment of State Police. The committee’s report has since been submitted to the Senate.

A decorated officer, Ojajuni has received several awards, including the African Nations Builders Award in Accra, Ghana, and recognitions from the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria. He is also an alumnus of Lagos State University and Ekiti State University, and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

CP Ojajuni is married with children and has pledged to uphold professionalism, accountability, and effective service delivery in his new role.
