The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old female suspect, Azeez Khadijat, over her alleged involvement in the illegal repainting of a suspected stolen Suzuki mini bus in Omu-Ijebu area of the state.

The arrest was made by detectives attached to the Omu-Ijebu Divisional Headquarters following credible intelligence on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at about 4:00 p.m.

Police sources disclosed that the operatives received information that a group of three men and a woman were sighted in a bush along Ikhasi Road, Kajola via Omu, repainting a mini bus, popularly known as “Korope,” without a registration number.

The vehicle was suspected to have originally been painted yellow but was being repainted in white and blue colours in an apparent attempt to conceal its identity.

Acting swiftly, the detectives stormed the scene, prompting the suspects to flee in different directions. However, Khadijat was apprehended inside the abandoned vehicle.

The mini bus was recovered and taken into police custody. It was later identified as bearing a Lagos State registration number.

A search conducted at the scene led to the recovery of several items, including three mobile phones, a power bank, a paint can, sandpaper, and a Type-C charging cord, all believed to belong to the fleeing suspects.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the vehicle may have been used for criminal activities in Lagos State, with the suspects attempting to alter its appearance to evade detection.

The Police said efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplices, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism, assuring that all those involved would be brought to justice.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
