The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal networks with a raid on a suspected cult hideout in Eze-Allah, Enugwu-Ukwu, leading to the arrest of eight suspects and recovery of illicit drugs.

The operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Anti-Cult Unit in Enugwu-Ukwu, acting on credible intelligence, on the evening of April 16, 2026.

According to the statement, the targeted location was identified as a known black spot linked to cult-related activities and drug abuse.
During the raid, police arrested eight male suspects allegedly connected to cultism and recovered various quantities of suspected Cannabis Sativa as well as other dangerous drugs.
The suspects were identified as Chidalu Nwafor (27), Chiemerie Nwazueje (24), Chima Arwuike (25), Jideobi Emeka (26), Oliver Okonkwo (18), Izuchukwu Christian (18), Onyebuchi (21), and Walter Idouzour (44).
The police said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle cult groups and drug networks operating within communities in the state.
Ikenga noted that the command views drug abuse as a major driver of violent crime, especially among youths involved in cult-related activities.
He added that all suspects are currently undergoing profiling and investigation and will be charged to court upon completion of the process.
The command reiterated its commitment to sustained operations against criminal elements and assured residents of Anambra State of improved safety and security across communities.
