The West African Examinations Council has announced the commencement of registration for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, Second Series.

The examination body disclosed this in a post published on its official X handle on Friday.

According to WAEC, registration for the examination opened on Sunday, May 4, 2026, and will close on Thursday, July 31, 2026.

The council stated that the examination would be conducted fully as a Computer-Based Examination (CBE).

WAEC also fixed the registration fee at ₦37,000.

The council advised prospective candidates to visit the nearest WAEC office in their respective states to confirm available examination towns before completing their registration.

It encouraged candidates to register early to avoid last-minute congestion and to maximise the benefits of the computer-based examination format.

The WASSCE for Private Candidates (Second Series) is organised annually for individuals who are not enrolled in regular secondary schools, enabling them to sit for the examination independently and obtain the certificate.
