The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a series of operational successes, including the sanctioning of 89 vehicles for number plate violations, the foiling of armed robbery attacks, the recovery of a stolen vehicle and two motorcycles, and the arrest of two robbery suspects.

The Command said the operations were carried out through sustained intelligence-led policing and proactive security measures in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, against vehicles operating without registration plates or with covered, altered or obscured number plates.
According to the Police, 89 vehicles and their drivers were intercepted across the state for violating the directive. The offenders have been subjected to appropriate administrative and legal actions, including prosecution where necessary.
CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, said the enforcement exercise is aimed at improving vehicle traceability, enhancing intelligence gathering and denying criminals the anonymity often exploited in the commission of crimes.
He assured residents that the exercise would be sustained across the state.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Ogere Division, working with the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, local vigilantes and members of the community, foiled an armed robbery attack at Akuro Phase I, Ogere Remo on July 3.
The hoodlums had reportedly invaded a residence and carted away two motorcycles, mobile phones, cash and other valuables before attempting to escape.
A coordinated response by security operatives forced the suspects to abandon the two stolen motorcycles and flee into a nearby bush.
The police subsequently arrested one suspect, identified as Abdulsalam Adam, while recovering one knife, an expended cartridge and a broken padlock from the scene. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, as efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang.
Similarly, operatives of the Ajuwon Division recovered a stolen Toyota Camry and arrested another robbery suspect following a distress call over an attack at Baale Akinosi Area, Ajuwon, on July 2.
According to the Command, armed robbers had invaded a residence, making away with mobile phones, jewellery, power banks, a laptop computer, the Toyota Camry and other valuables.
Police operatives launched a hot pursuit, forcing the fleeing suspects to abandon the stolen vehicle before escaping.
One suspect, identified as Israel Salako, was arrested and is assisting investigators, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang and recover additional stolen items.
Commending officers involved in the successful operations, CP Ojajuni praised their professionalism, vigilance and swift response to distress calls.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-driven and preventive policing through sustained visibility patrols, strategic stop-and-search operations, community partnership and prompt operational response.
The Police Commissioner also urged motorists to comply with vehicle registration requirements and advised residents to remain security conscious by boarding commercial vehicles only at designated motor parks and recognised loading points.
He further appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring residents that the Command would maintain relentless pressure on criminal elements to ensure the safety and security of lives and property across Ogun State.
