The Anambra State Police Command’s Safe School Operatives working with community members have rescued nine persons—seven school children and two adults— after a flood incident on Nibo–Isiagu Road, Awka, on September 22, 2026.
A statement from SP Tochukwu Ikenga, office of the police public relations officer states that One child remains missing, prompting the Command to sustain and expand search and rescue operations in collaboration with community members and relevant stakeholders.
It adds that CP Nnanna Oji Ama, Commissioner of Police, have urged residents to provide useful information and advised parents, schools, guardians and motorists to exercise extreme caution around flooded roads, bridges and waterways.
