The Kano State Multi-Agency Task Force Committee on Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has seized 3,180,000 capsules of pregabalin at Apple Avenue, Nomansland, Kano.
The seizure was made on Saturday, during a major operation against illicit drug trafficking and abuse in the state.
The consignment, suspected to be meant for illegal sale and abuse, was recovered from the location. Investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend those involved.
Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the Task Force Committee, described the seizure as a major blow to drug barons.
“Let me assure the people of Kano that this is a major blow to the drug barons. Every capsule taken off the street is a life, a family, and a future protected. We will pursue everyone involved, and we will not rest until our communities are free from drugs,” Rimingado said.
The Task Force assured residents of its commitment to dismantling drug networks, including sponsors and suppliers.
It called on citizens, community leaders, religious leaders, parents, and youths to support the fight against drug abuse by reporting suspicious activities, drug dealers, and stockpiles to the nearest security outpost.
“The fight against drug abuse is a shared responsibility, and together we will protect our youths and secure the future of our state,” the Task Force said.
