There has been widespread report that thugs have destroyed the house of Bishop Matthew Kukah, Bishop of Roman Catholic, Diocese of Sokoto.
The house known as St Bakhita, which serves as the secretariat of the diocese was reportedly said to have set on fire amid demonstrations for the release of Deborah Yakubu’s murder suspects, according to pictures and videos shared online.

Holy family catholic Cathedral, Bishop Kukah’s House and Catholic pastoral Centre which were built with over #1billion Naira have been burnt by hoodlums who are protesting those who murdered Miss Deborah Yakubu.
As at the time of filing the story, the post has generated 707 comments,884 likes. As at the time of factchecking this information,the post had spent over four hours on the facebook page and is yet to be deleted. The Facebook account was having 90,747 followers.
Many had felt this was connected to the Press release by Bishop Kukah to condemned the abominable act committed against the lady or a fight back against Christians who were behind the arrest of the perpetrators.
Findings from Bishop Kukah’s office revealed he wasn’t in his residence and maybe connected to the incident which he has gone to seek refuge but later, Bishop Kukah responded to call and confirmed his house wasn’t raised by protesters.
Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Tambuwal has imposed curfew over Sokoto to curb further spread of violence amid a mob rampage for the release of Deborah’s murder suspects.
Miss Deborah Yakubu is a 200-level home economics student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, was killed at about 9:00 a.m. Thursday for allegedly criticising Prophet Muhammad.
Her death has led to a nationwide concern which had generated lot of tensions in and out of the country which led to the police arresting two people shown in the video.
