CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Police Command, has appointed CSP Daramola Sunday Thompson as the Commander of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) in line with ongoing reforms introduced by the Inspector-General of Police.

The move, authorities said, aligns with the reform agenda of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of Olatunji Rilwan Disu, aimed at restructuring and streamlining tactical operations across state commands.

According to a statement, the appointment is part of efforts to establish a unified, intelligence-driven unit dedicated to tackling violent crimes, while enhancing operational efficiency, accountability, and coordinated responses to security challenges in Ogun State.

The selection process followed a rigorous screening exercise, which also marked the commencement of an orientation programme for newly chosen personnel of the unit. The Commissioner of Police, alongside members of the Command Management Team, participated in the orientation to provide strategic direction and reinforce the reform objectives.

CSP Daramola is described as an experienced officer with a strong background in crime-fighting operations. He has previously served as Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Cultism Unit and CP Monitoring Unit in Ogun State, as well as Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit and Anti-Car Theft Unit in Ekiti State Command. He also served as Divisional Police Officer of Noyo Division in Ebonyi State.

CP Ojajuni charged the new VCRU commander to uphold professionalism, discipline, and integrity, while ensuring swift, lawful, and effective responses to violent crimes across the state.
