The federal government has received another batch of 269 Nigerians from South Africa.

An Air Peace flight carrying the returnees landed at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos and they were received by the Director of African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Haruna Ali-Gombe, who delivered President Tinubu’s assurance of protection for Nigerians abroad.

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that
Ambassador Ali Gombe extended President Tinubu’s greetings, affirming that the government remains committed to the safety of Nigerians abroad.

The statement adds that the batch is the second evacuation flight, bringing the total number of returnees to 335 with South Africa’s June 30 deadline for undocumented foreigners to leave their country.

The Federal Government says it will continue to engage South African authorities to ensure the safety of Nigerians living there even though voluntary evacuation process is still on course as more flights are expected in the country in the next few days to ensure all Nigerians that have been screened and cleared voluntarily return to the country.
