Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, at the state university, launched the Imole SSCE Scholarship Award. He charged Osun people to shun proceeds of crime being distributed by the opposition in the buildup to the August 15th election.

Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the State Governor, in a statement indicated that the governor, at the maiden edition of the scholarship programme held at the Osun State University, said the scholarship is designed to celebrate excellence and further moved Osun State higher from its number 7th position among the comity of states.

He said the event honours the achievements of the students, the teachers, the parents, and the Ministry of Education. The Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, showed hard copies of NECO 2024 and 2025 reports rating Osun as number seven in national education NECO performance.

The governor declared: “My people of Osun State, Osun is at an unusual time ahead of the August 15 election. Those who hijacked and diverted over N300 billion Osun local government funds are desperate.

“I charge Osun people to reject Greek gifts, to shun proceeds of crime and use their votes to sustain continuity. Osun voters and residents have a sacred duty to reject illegality, political corruption, and unconstitutional pressure to subvert democracy.

“Our votes must further elongate delivery of democratic dividends as witnessed by our people from 2022 to date. Those who violated the law must be exposed through rejection at the poll. Those who trampled on the constitution to hijack the local governments must be electorally rejected.

“Osun must show herself as the pride of good governance as a symbol of democracy. As we celebrate academic excellence, we must prove to the world that those who hate democracy and its rules have no space near the government house.”

The lead consultant for the Electronic Collection Group and the main partner for the scholarship, Engr Kayode Akinmade, commended the governor for initiating and authorising the scholarship scheme, calling it “a giant leap in support of state education”.

“We appreciate his Excellency for supporting education, for promoting excellence, and for recognising performing students at all levels of school education. This maiden edition is a huge success”, he noted.
