The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism, and public trust by strengthening the Police Complaints Response Unit (CRU) as a direct platform for citizens to report misconduct by police personnel.

Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, disclosed this during an emergency conference with Commissioners of Police and members of the media held at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
According to the IGP, the Complaints Response Unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week providing members of the public with a reliable channel to report cases of misconduct, abuse of office, extortion, human rights violations, and other unethical behaviour involving police officers.
He stressed that accountability remains a central pillar of ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, assuring Nigerians that all legitimate complaints would receive prompt attention and necessary action.
The IGP also urged citizens to make responsible use of the available complaint channels, noting that public cooperation is vital to building a more professional, transparent, and people-oriented police institution.
The Force assured Nigerians that all reports submitted through the CRU would be treated with seriousness and confidentiality, while disciplinary measures would continue to be taken against officers found guilty after investigations.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its determination to strengthen public confidence and institutional integrity through transparency, responsiveness, and adherence to the rule of law.
