Hyacinth Alia, Governor of Benue State, has directed security agencies to deploy additional personnel to the Sai community of Mbajir ward in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, following an attack by armed men.
In a statement by Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary, the Governor described the attack which left scores dead while many others sustained various degrees of injuries as unacceptable act of violence, particularly coming at a crucial time when the hardworking farmers who have returned to their ancestral lands are cultivating their farms.
The governor extended his deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in the tragedy, as well as other victims currently receiving medical attention.
The governor urged the security agencies to prevent further incursions by terrorists and armed herdsmen and launch a manhunt for the perpetrators of the heinous crime and ensure that they are brought to justice.
He called on the citizens to remain calm but vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security post for necessary action.
